Windows 7 Slate Pcs need customized applications. Here is one example of that, StNotepad Touch with multi-touch gestures for all text editing actions like cut, copy, paste, delete, space, backspace, enter, tab, undo, redo, selectall etc... This will be helpful for editing text without traditional keyboard and mouse. For more information visit http://stforms.net/stnotepad-touch/

I wonder what the battery life will be.

A standard Atom N450 netbook with a 6cell battery (~12000mAh=44whr) gives a 8-10hr runtime with ASUS.

A 30whr battery (~2/3 of the 44whr) should give about 5-6.6 hrs of battery.

If we assume that the touch-screen doesn't decrease the runtime too much, this may be acceptable. Nothing like modern/powerful Apple and Tegra2 devices though (10+ hours).
