USB 3.0 gear was everywhere at CES last week with all sorts of gear using the new and much faster interface. USB 3.0 hardware may be getting unveiled in droves, but computers and computer hardware to support the specification are still rather limited. HP has announced that it will include USB 3.0 support on select Envy 15 models.

The announcement makes HP the first major PC maker to ship USB 3.0 notebooks. An HP spokesperson told CNET that the HP online store does sell the Envy 15 with USB 3.0 when the notebook is equipped with ATI HD 5830 graphics and a quad-core i7 Intel processor.

USB 3.0 will also be offered on other HP business notebooks in the high-end of its range including the 8540p and 8540w in a few weeks according to the spokesperson. Other manufacturers like Asus are set to ship notebooks with USB 3.0 near the end of the month reports CNET.
