If you read other stories, you’ll see the Pre 3 has a 1.4 ghz processor. Same styling appeals to a lot of owners. iPhone would be one example — plethora of Android handsets would not be. The styling changes are subtle, but they are significant, including a larger screen. Again, other stories detail these changes. The Pre (all of them) is sleek and very functional. A lot of people do like the slab phones that make your pocket stretch. Most Pre owners don’t, but you’re not one, and that’s cool, because we have choices. Lay your hands on one and then decide.

The point of the webOS is that it’s NOT a full touch like the over-rated iphones and android. My husband has had to replace his crappy iphone 5 times in the past 2 years because it’s so full of crappy functions including a virtual keyboard that, when the OS goes berserk, means he can’t do a thing with the device except use it as a paper weight. And my son’s HTC is a glorified hand-held movie player. They both switched to a webOS and haven’t looked back.

HP bought palm for the OS. it made sense for them and they saw potential (which there is).. go use one and you’ll see why.

2. The Pre 2 was released just as HP bought palm (for $1.2 Billion I might add). I doubt HP had anything to do with the Pre 2 (hence why it still says Palm on the back covers).

3. You gotta look at the WebOS smart phones as just a piece of how HP intends on growing the platform. they want it on printers, tablets, and even PC’s in the near future. They have the assets to make it happen. you dont spend over a billion dollars on something you throw away that easy…

4. Palm had a substantial and very appealing patent and trademark portfolio aquired over the past few decades… HTC, Apple, and Google were all interested in this.
