HP have announced an AMD Puma version of their dv5 notebook, the dv5z, which offers a choice of AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core, Turion X2 Dual-Core Ultra or Athlon mobile CPUs.  Built around a 15.4-inch screen, buyers can specify up to 4GB of RAM, a choice of ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated or ATI Radeon HD 3450 256MB dedicated graphics, up to 320GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner with optional Blu-ray.

Connectivity comprises a choice of WiFi b/g or WiFi a/b/g/draft-n, while Bluetooth is optional.  Standard screen resolution is 1280 x 800, with a WSXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Infinity Display running at 1680 x 1050 another option. 

A webcam is standard while a fingerprint reader is optional.  The dv5z weighs 5.84 pounds, has a 6-cell battery and runs Vista.  It’s available now, priced from $699.99.
