HP Flexible Display Rolls Out Onto the Scene [video]

Well, well, well. Look at what we have here. It's been awhile since we last saw HP's flexible display, and we have to admit, it's been way too long. It's looking even better than it was back in the day, when the company and Arizona State University worked together to show it off the first time. Yes, we wish our computers were already made of this stuff, or maybe even our tablets, but for now we'll have to live with the screenshots, and maybe a video once in awhile, to hold us over.

We're getting the screenshot from Hardware.info, but they definitely put the strong work into capturing the video below. We wish HP was planning to put their flexible displays into some kind of flexible computer (yes, we can dream), but apparently the material would only survive about a half dozen or so roll-ups. That's not good enough for something that people would use every day, for at least a year. So, no actual flexible displays, even if the material was created to do so. What we will get out of the design, is thinner and lighter displays, which is also a good thing.

Don't forget to watch the video and see the displays moving around. A video definitely does it justice, even if the still images make it look cool. There's no word on whether or not we'll see a display made from the schematics of the flexible display any time soon, but it seems that HP is committed to reducing the weight in a lot of the gadgets we use today, mostly our computers. So, let's hope they can stay on the ball, and get out some legitimate units here in the near future.
