I still find this news to be shocking, hard to believe they would let go of such a good thing. I know sales were very low and there were a lot of critics regarding the TouchPad, but I believe webOS as well as HP’s tablet could have had a very bright future!

I just païd $21.87 for an ïPad 2 – 64 G.B and my boyfrîend loves his Pänasoniic Lumíx GF 1 Camera that we got for $38.76 there arriving tomorrow by U P S.I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch L.E.D T.V to my boss for $657 which only cost me $62.81 to buy.

Like HDDVD, just wait a little and buy a Touchpad for $199. Remember that even though HP devices are dead, webOS will continue to get updates as HP finds the best way to license or open source the platform. It would be nice to close this defeat with $1.2B charity.

Ios really isn’t beautiful.. unless you find beauty in minimalism ( I do..) the static grid of icons critique is valid… I honestly never see anything of the OS except the task switcher and spotlight. It really tries to do away with the desktop paradigm..

I played with the playbook at Sprint.. pretty sweet.. the fact it can (will) run Android apps means it can still be useful even if axed.. who knows what’ll happen to webos devices..

Really foolish business decision though the uncertainty of support means no one will buy them even for a much reduced price.

Don’t forget BlackBerry’s upcoming QNX OS, which may also be used in their Playbook tablets. And have you seen the demos of the next Windows OS, which is touch-based and most probably will be used in tablets? It’s a beautiful OS, even more so than iOS.

Wow, I was so close to taking advantage of the sale prices a couple of weekends ago. I was concerned about the longer term viability of WebOS, but I never would have imagined the end being this soon. This move will assure an accelerated path to dropping PC Sales altogether since it would be risky for anyone to buy anything else from them.

I just can’t believe HP managed to squander their Palm acquisition with webOS. It’s truly a beautiful OS, too bad HP couldn’t get together anything but dated hardware to work with it.

And both those OSes are quite closed right now (at least until Google opens source code of Android again – if it will). I’d love to see tablet edition of Ubuntu or open sourced webOS.

(/facepalm) this a very sad moment… tablet computing shrinks to Apple vs Android race, and it is very bad since less diversity results in dwindling innovation. Of course the chances of webOS on the consumer market were low, but it could grow into a great enterprise mobile os… HP ruined it completely.
