I just hope the HP board do a better job this time. If they panic, market confidence in HP could be crippled for years. Regardless of Leo Apotheker’s policy objectives; it is his effect on market confidence that really matters.

Leo has a bad track record. He is repeating a policy that gave him that reputation at SAP; and taking HP in a profoundly new direction. The recent PR disaster precipitated a crisis in share values. If he can’t deliver a clear recovery of confidence in HP, he HAS to go. But appointing an interim CEO at this moment sounds like corporate suicide. Who would want this job?

apparently tech companies just can’t help copying Apple in everything.

If they name Whitman interim CEO, are they hoping that will turns out the same was as when apple first brought Jobs back and name him interim CEO

Meg wouldn’t even have to do that much, just reverse the changes Leo made and keep that going until they find the long term replacement.
