A 6-cell battery pack compatible with the HP Mini 1000 series of netbooks has appeared in the company’s Parts Store. While not yet officially announced by HP, the battery – the specs of which are 2.4Ah and 53Wh - is listed as being in stock and available to order, priced at $153.90 (plus shipping).
That makes for a not exactly cheap runtime upgrade, when the HP Mini 1000 range itself starts at just over twice that amount. Still, the promise of double the battery life will appeal to many. It remains to be seen exactly how much bulk the battery will add to the netbook.
Unfortunately, there doesn’t appear to be a way to directly link to the product page on HP’s Parts Store. Instead, you have to visit this link, choose your geographical region, and then search for product code 517581-001. That should take you to the battery listing.
