Of course it matters. Iphone is a $100-$200 OPTION on a thousands of dollars two year mobile plan. And its accessories ARE CHEAPER. And its content is CHEAPER and THERE’S MORE OF IT that can SAVE YOU MONEY, like Amazon price check. Price is KING.

Ipad? At $500, it’s a very cheap laptop replacement. Androids don’t sell as well, because they’re essentially the same price. Fire sells well because it’s a dirt cheap reader/video player/game console.

Price isn’t important, but people will take a deal whenever they can get it. So it *is* important, then?

It’s also kind of a broad stroke to say “today’s consumer wants the best.” Some don’t. There are plenty of people that still want a bargain. Ever been to a Boxing Day sale in Canada?

Loyalty comes into play here…also value.

While I am willing to pay a reasonable price for something cool from a manufacturer I trust, if I sense that they are trying to gouge me, I will start looking for alternatives.

People want the latest and greatest and are willing to pay a reasonable premium for it as long as they can convince themselves that the upgrade (or new purchase) really has value compared to the prior version. That’s a little different than saying that “price doesn’t matter”.

if i make $50 an hour, of course price wouldn’t matter. on the other hand with the apple crowd, its all about keeping up with the Jones. really we don’t have much choice when it comes to quality. i paid $578 for my galaxy tab10.1 because there are no better android tab. i think its way over priced but theres no other better tab….
