Hoverkraft Levitating Construction Challenge builds floating castles

Sometimes you need to unplug and get away from the video games, smartphones, and tablets to do something in the real world like a board game. Board games are fun, but they usually have one thing in common, they are played on a flat fold out game board. ThinkGeek has rolled out a new game called Hoverkraft Levitating Construction Challenge, and it has a game board unlike anything else out there.

This board game challenges players to build castles and other floating constructs on a small square game board that floats in the air using magnets. The goal of the game is to use blocks to build structures on the floating platform without tipping the balance of the floating platform and having all your pieces crash to the ground.

The game says that it is for one or two players, but I see no reason you couldn't have more. The games are fast lasting up to 5 minutes each, so you don't have to set aside most of a day as you might with Risk or other complex games. The game includes 24 translucent blocks.

Those blocks include six pyramids, six corners, six l-shapes, and six straight pieces. Five rare Earth magnets make the small 3-inch square platform float over the 6-inch square base. A 6-sided die is included with the game. You can pick the game up for $29.99 at ThinkGeek now.
