Hop-On's new $10 phone
Breaking or losing a cell phone is no fun. While some carriers are good about hooking you up with a new handset in short order, others can take their sweet time. So what do you do in the meantime? If you don't have an old phone lying around as a spare, you could try hitting up some friends or family for one. If that still doesn't work, you could always just pick up a HOP1800 to get you by. It's not like it'll break the bank.
Normally when one talks about a new phone, the first thing they mention is some remarkable feature that really sells the phone. Well the HOP1800's most prominent feature is the price tag, which happens to be $10. That's not a discounted or subsidized price, but rather the actual MSRP.
Of course with a price that low, some features are going to be lacking. The most noticeable is the lack of a display. That will be a major turnoff for most people, however, it's a $10 phone. Here's a short list of specks for the cheap-o phone.
The device is said to work with over 40 carriers and should be as easy to setup as just popping in a SIM card. While I couldn't see this replacing most people's phones, it might be nice to keep one around as a backup.
