As a standalone car no, but that wasn’t my point. My point was they redesigned the most popular car, and instead of making it better, made it worse. On a scale of 1 to 100 it maybe went from a 93 to a 90, so still a great car, but the wrong direction in overall quality. The previous gen is better quality, and that goes back to 06.

The car wasn’t shitty.
Aside from noise, poor interior quality, and a conservative redesign (of course Honda of all companies gets slammed for being conservative, while BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, and the like have the most fucking lethargic design evolution of nearly any automotive company) it wasn’t much worse than the 8th gen.
People now dgaf about how a car drives if it doesn’t look good.
And unfortunately, Honda was too late to realize that.

i when to buy the new 2012 civic and it suck it was like 1996 civic very cheap the door panel was a big chunk of plastic the seats were n comfy and all of that for 20k i look on craigslist and i found a 2006 mercedes e55 supercaharge 500 hp with 50k for 19k a car that cost 100k when new who knew

I was more impressed with the new Elantra that the civic. Specially the inside. The civic does look kind of cheap and basic.

Yeah, I shouldn’t have just said it was an awful car, just that usually when there is a full redesign you expect everything quality-wise to increase, not decrease. Comparing the 2011 to the 2012 just disappointed me, so they’re gonna have to really step their game up for the next round lol.

I like the focus but they have their own problems when it comes to the “my sync” tech and the new transmission.

The new one is a good car as well, it will still run forever problem free but they did cheap out on the carpet, roof liner, door panel ect. but shaved a grand off the base price. Now Honda knows that it was a mistake to try and meet the competition on price point, everyone knows that you pay alittle extra for quality and they want to see Honda bring that back. Look for improvements next year with both the interior and the mechanicals. I don’t know if the new engine will be ready in time but when it does come Honda will have the lead back in fuel economy again as well.

2012 was a major upgrade year for Honda… That’s what they get for half-assing, well, quarter-assing development on one of the most iconic small cars in America lol

And the earthquake had NOTHING to do with how shitty of a car it was. When went and bought my 2011 new they were selling the ’12 for less lol I love my ’11, the ’12 pales in comparison.
