The WowWee Rovio should be at the top of everyone’s list this holiday. You can sneak up and spy on anyone in your house with the built-in webcam and microphone. Not only can you see what is going on but you can also speak to others through Rovio. If that is not impressive enough, you can control Rovio via Wi-Fi from anywhere there is an Internet connection. The Rovio by WowWee is going to cost you about $250 to $300 this year. The WowWee Bladestar comes in at number two for those who love radio controlled flying toys. The Bladestar is far from your typical mall helicopter with features such as auto pilot sensors. After a few minutes anyone can become an expert pilot. Another thing your going to love about the Bladestar is the price, $49.99 will get you started. Nanovision MIMO UM-710 & UM-730 USB displays come in at number three for the inner geek in all of us. Everyone wishes at some point they had a designated screen to get their Instant Messaging window or music player in a more convenient, out of the way place. The UM-710 is priced at $129.99 while the UM-730 is priced at $169.99. The touchscreen MIMO UM-740 is priced at $189.99.
What would the holidays be like without someone getting a new iPod? The iPod Touch 2G steals the number one slot this year as the “funnest iPod yet”. Apple has improved your favorite iPod with the addition of physical volume controls and an internal speaker. Perhaps the best feature of the iPod Touch 2G is the ability to do so much more like surfing the web over Wi-Fi or watching YouTube videos on the go. Pick one up for $229 for 8GB, $299 for 16GB and $399 for 32GB. The new iPod Nano 4G is next in line. This is Apple’s thinnest iPod yet and it comes in a variety of colors to suit just about anyone. The iPod Nano 4G is the perfect gift for music lovers of all kinds and is available in 4GB for $149 and 8GB for $199. Last but not least on our list is the Microsoft Zune Gears of Wars 2 edition. This collector edition Zune is perfect for gamers and has 120GB of storage space to fit even the largest music collections. At $279.99, just $25 more than the regular edition you can give this special edition Zune to your favorite gamer.
The Telenav Shotgun takes the first place in the personal navigation device (PND) section. This is the first two-way PND that Telenav has created, providing users with real-time traffic alerts and Internet content such as updated gas prices, maps and business listings. The Telenav Shotgun is priced to sell at $299. Second on our list of PNDs is the Navigon 7200T GPS. This GPS unit made it to our number two slot, with voice recognition, incredibly detailed maps, 3D Visualization and a large touchscreen. This GPS system is going to cost you a bit more this holiday system at $449. Last but certainly not least is the cheapest PND on our list at $270, the Mio Knight Rider GPS. As the name implies this Knight Rider themed GPS unit is the most fun you will probably ever have with a PND. Lights, sounds and even visuals are taken right out of the Knight Rider TV series. With 400 million points of interest you won’t be getting lost anytime soon. If you have a fairly common name and don’t wish to be called Michel all the time, you can even select one of the 300 preprogrammed call names.
Our number one pick for storage gifts is the Apple Time Capsule. You can now wirelessly backup all of your data just in case the inevitable happens. The Apple Time Capsule is basically an 802.11n WiFi router with an added 500GB for $299 or 1TB hard-drive for $499. Second we have chosen the very capable Iomega StorCenter ix2 NAS. It may look plain and ordinary on the outside, but what made us choose this particular storage device are all of the features it has, including, Bluetooth file transfers, printer sharing facility and optional CCTV recording. The Iomega StorCenter ix2 NAS will run you $299.99 for the 1TB and $479.99 for the 2TB. Our last pick is Drobo (Not a NAS), an array of storage that does not requires you to have the same harddrive capacities – unlike RAID.
