Hitman Absolution is getting the Xbox One treatment

One thing that's always made me enjoy playing games on a PC is the fact that there are very few games that I can't go back and play whenever I want, on the same machine I play new titles on. With consoles, the ability to play older games on new hardware has been spotty, at best. Microsoft has been doing a good job of making Xbox 360 titles available since they announced the feature last year. And it looks like we have another new (old) games to look forward to.

Recently, the guys over at WorthPlaying had a chance to speak with someone at Square Enix who confirmed that they are bringing Hitman Absolution to the Xbox One, via the backwards compatibility feature. While it's not considered the best game in the franchise, there are plenty of people who will be happy to able to play it on their Xbox One.

One of the really nice things about bringing this particular game to the new console is that many people already own the digital version. Way back in April of 2014 Microsoft released the game for free as a part of their ongoing Games With Gold promotion. If you picked it up back then, you'll be all set, once it is released for the Xbox One.

Speaking of the release, the Square Enix representative said that they have done everything on their end, and that the release is now in Microsoft's court. This likely means that the game is now in the testing phase, and we will simply see it whenever that has been completed.
