SONY is a dinosaur - a brontosaurus - just waiting for an asteroid to wipe them off the face of the earth - Give em 3 to 5 years before they get split up and sold off to multiple other vendors. They are running on fumes.
Seriously, they used to make the best damn TVs - during the Jurassic period - and where the hell are they now??? and the PlayStation network hacks - WTF??? and what about those idiotic root kits...
Maybe they can join Best Buy and just disappear like Circuit City...

My problem with sony is that there is that unlike apple, there is no clear design language and strategy from one product to another, so buying different sony products does not make the user feel like he is buying into a design ecosystem.

Speaking of ecosystems, in a very real way, a bigger problem that Sony faces is that it doesn't control the product ecosystem. instead it relies on a mish mash of third party OSs (windows for computers, Android for phones, and no clear direction on TVs), that are loaded with Sony skinning and crapware. this forces users to learn different operating systems in order to get products to interact, making the purchase of a Sony ecosystem a hard sell.

On top of all that is sony's insistence of on forcing proprietary formats on buyers (remember sony's proprietary music formats?), such as Memory Stick, and charging a serious premium for it.

The combination of high prices, incoherent ecosystem, no clear design language and forced vendor lock in, makes me as a user steer clear from Sony products.
