Oh yeah, the Gamecube and the DS. People were saying the same thing about the GCN’s flagging sales and the fact that the DS was off to a slow start and facing the PSP. No one thought Nintendo would pull out of the hole they were in.

Now we’re still talking about them over half a decade later. It’s not the first time Nintendo’s found themselves in a rut, and usually it happens during their transitions from system to system. The Wii’s not selling because of lack of big games (Xenoblade and The Last Story aren’t widely known) and because people are aware of the Wii U’s coming. Who would spend money when a new system is on the way? And not only that, but with as much as the Wii has sold, I can’t imagine that there are many people left that still don’t own one.

Because of the possible loss of their target market that generates so much revenue for them.  Same answer applies to Nintendo, albeit Nintendo has been failing to do so.  They are taking a chance with the games/devices they produce to win over their target market.  Yes, they might have been hemorrhaging cash over the years due to their products, but that is business. You can’t always take the safe route when running a business.  Risk factor will always be there.  And if they fail for couple more years, they might discontinue the mobile game systems altogether.  But for now, “You like their Nintendo games, buy a Nintendo product.  End of Story”

You can’t even give the Wii away at this point, even with its $149.99 price point being the lowest in the industry. With Xbox and PS3 expanding their console’s features with update after free update, it’s only a matter of time. History is destined to repeat itself, and I guarantee you it will. Within the next 5 years Nintendo will abandon its mobile gaming platform, and within 10 it will go the way of Sega. Nintendo fails to evolve and grow and will soon be nothing more than a developer for other platforms…..like Sega and Atari before it.

MarioKart DS, New Super Mario, Pokemon, any of those games, that aren’t even new, kids still want when they get a DS, they don’t care how old it is. 

Basically what I’m trying to get at is that Nintendo should do both platforms, not abandon the Pocket Gaming System all together.

Mario is a Nintendo seller, so if you want to play it, buy one of their products.
