I have a top end P4 and still want this cam as it is future proof for when I get a new one. What I need to know is can the resolution be dropped to 640 by 480 as I know my PC won’t be able to handle it despite passing the Hercules recommended minimum spec?

This assures instant _basic_ webcam functionality on ANY modern computer operating system including Mac or Linux.

Do keep in mind that HD webcams need FAST-FAST dual core computers to deliver the claimed frame-rates. And that MOST video-chat programs simply CANNOT and DO NOT send HD resolution at 30fps across the DSL and Cable modem connections most of us have. Most chat programs top out at VGA 640×480. However, for direct video capture and uploading to video sites – these higher-def cams do deliver a higher level of video quality.
