Vincent got his Mysto by way of FedEx this morning, it looks great. He hasn’t yet taken the time to review it, so this is just pictures of a more or less dead phone, there is one with the phone on, but that’s it.

If you click through the via link there are more photos and a video of the Unboxing. Well, it’s a slider, it’s bluish, thin, and it has a camera (I think I saw 2MP in the video).

It also has GPS, and all the other goodness that Helio phones always come with. Oh, and for those of you doubting the power of the GPS in these phones, I was with my family last night, we hit a lot a fog and lost our GPS signal from our main GPS device, and visibility was about 4-5 feet in front of the vehicle, so I fired up my Fin and not only got a signal, but got us back on track.

Wow looks like a neat phone but I personally don’t like it all that much at least by the looks but looks are not necessarily everything, are they?

Helio has the best customer service in the cell phone business. I have been with every cell phone company out. Never have I experianced customer service like this.
If anyone calls Helio, they will first let you know that they aim to please you and will do what ever they need to do to satisfy the customer. The other gentleman just had a bad day. If you don’t believe what I’am saying, I encourage anyone to call them yourself just to see. You will not be put on hold. The attention is on satisfying you. Believe me, You will leave your current carrier just to get with helio and they will not treat you as if your business doesn’t matter. It’s customer service at its best. Call for yourself, Please. 1-888-88HELIO.

Don’t let Helio fool you. They suck altogether. They don’t do nothing, but lie to try to get you to keep your service. I was sick with the flu, and unable to work all the time. Somebody called me to tell me that my bill was due. I said ok, and that I could make the payment on the following week. The customer service rep said ok, and that the service would stay on. I went to use my phone one day, and it was off. I had to call Billing, who then told me that I had to make at least half of the payment in order to use my phone for 5 days. I asked for an extension until the next week but they told me no. I then told the lady on the phone that the same thing happened to me last month when I did not make the payment on time. It was my first bill. I did not get a due date, or anything because they didn’t tell me. All I heard was is that I apologize. I had to make a payment just to use my phone. I told her that this is happening again two months in a row. One customer service rep says one thing, and the other says another. I told the rep that I wanted to cancel my contract with them, and asked what the early termination fee would be. They told me that it will be $175.00. I said ok. I told her that I would pay the bill in its entirety, and the early termination fee just to get rid of them. Helio made me pay a $325.00 deposit from the beginning. I told her that I would like my deposit once everything is paid. She told me that I would not get the deposit back unless I make 12 consecutive payments. I told her that I would not have service, and I want my deposit back. She asked a supervisor, and they said the same thing. I was like I am just basically paying them what I owe, and giving them an extra $325.00 for nothing. I told her that Helio is worse than Sprint. Sprint never has good customer service, and they lie to you to get your business. I am just writing this to inform anyone that if you pick up Helio as your wireless carrier, then please be careful. I told the lady that if any of my friends asked me how the service is, then I would say it is not worth the time. Plus, I have a Helio Ocean. It is not what it is cracked up to be. It gets stuck all the time. I just got stuck paying $300.00 for a phone that is not what it was hyped up to be, and the worst experience with a company. I hope they get their act together before they are out of sight just like Amp’d Mobile. You all have a good day!!

The Helio Myst is basically the Samsung U600 aka the Ultra Edition 10.9 but with the helio firedroplet logo and GPS.

Stop getting on Helio. Helio is only here because samsung didn’t want to release their best phones to use on other wireless carriers. You can buy the phones elsewhere (out of country) if you really want them, and use your verizon or cingular or whatever.

I bought the regular Samsung Anycall U600 in asia last year, and it’s an excellent phone.

Yes, you can buy the U600 overseas. It will not be powered by HELIO though, and you will not have all the capabilities (MYSTO/OCEAN) that drove the IPhone II into a panic production. Can you make the Samsung run on another service? Sure. You can also buy a Ferrari and swap out the power plant and drive train for that of a Toyota Camry, although I’m not sure why you would do that.

The bottom line with HELIO is not the phones (Samsung/Pantech) or the out-sourced and underpaid customer service rep. The bottom line is the capabilities that have been leading the pack for three years now, making the US telecommunications giants really pissed off and nervous. If you don’t know what these capabilities are, you should really take the time to check them out.

All domestic cell phone companies are offering the $99 per month “unlimited plan” because HELIO came on the scene a couple years ago offering that price with killer capabilitites. If you stop to anaylize exactly what the $99 per month unlimited plan means, you will quickly learn that HELIO is the only truly unlimited plan.

Go see a HELIO dealer. They are almost exclusively privately owned entrepreneurs, mom & pop operations, not giant telecommunications conglomerate retail outlets with bank-style cattle chutes where you can stand in line for them to “serve” you.

HELIO is relativley new here in our market and trying hard to get things right. so hard, they are scaring the sh*t out of the domestic giants who are throwing every bit of cash they have on hand to kill them off.

Their service? well, I have experienced the best and the worst myself. Like cheap gas in the 21st century, you will never find the mythical land of good service filled with sweet costomer service fairies that send you birthday cards and tuck you in at night. Buy the right phone, get a good plan, pay your bill on time and live life to the fullest.
