As it was with SCART, so let it be with HDMI. No, I’m not talking about lots of tiny, easily bent pins that are bloody difficult to plug in when you’re reaching round the back of the TV, I mean the fact that there are never enough sockets for them. With many consumer-level TVs boasting HD quality via HDMI, and yet only having two (or in some cases just one) socket, cable switching starts to look like a chore when you consider all the HD-toting gadgets (PS3, HD-DVD players, HD-cable-TV boxes) that want to entertain you. Pocket-lint have reviewed a $225 potential solution to it all; the Lindy HDMI Switch, with four inputs and a compact remote control for flicking between sources. While they don’t find many good things to say about the design, there doesn’t seem to be much negative about performance; if you’re finding yourself with a bunch of cables and nowhere to stick them, perhaps this is the product for you.
