Handcrafted Millennium Falcon is made of 3,000 wood pieces

Star Wars has inspired many artists, and thanks to their ingenuity we've seen creations of all sorts, including drones modified to look like miniature Star Wars spacecraft. None of the creations have been quite as beautiful as a newly unveiled Millennium Falcon model masterfully handcrafted from 3,000 pieces of wood, though.

It took nearly a year to make the Millennium Falcon shown in the video below, as well as more than 3,000 pieces of wood taken from 30 tree species. The model, which appears massive (the size isn't stated), includes painstaking details down to the smallest pipes and panels.

The creation was made by Martin Creaney who goes by "Mr Chalky" on YouTube. The project includes many materials, such as MDF for the foundational pieces and real wood for the intricate details. While he has created other Star Wars models, this is his biggest undertaking yet, and he started it in early May 2014. A toy model was used, in part, as inspiration for the design.
