Audi e-tron quattro concept gallery

Audi's no stranger to electrification, but the upcoming e-tron quattro will take the shift from gasoline one step further. Doing away with any sort of ICE (internal combustion engine) altogether, the purely electric car is expected to launch in 2018 as Audi attempts to shift 25-percent of its line-up to EV.

Many of the concept's more outlandish features seem unlikely to make it over to production, mind. The retracting cameras on each wing, replacing side mirrors, won't satisfy the NHTSA, while the curved OLED touchscreens in the cabin are eye-catching but probably impractical.

What Audi is convinced on is battery power. A roughly 310 mile range is expected, with three electric motors and support for 150kW charging and an inductive system too. Audi is even working on piloted charging, so that positioning the car correctly over the inductive plate won't be a headache for the driver.
