Nissan has unveiled the new 2016 Altima, the latest generation of its mid-sized sedan. Billed as "one of the most extensive mid-cycle makeovers in Nissan history," the revamped car borrows from its Maxima bigger brother for the outside, while inside there's an updated dashboard which the company claims should be easier to use.

Under the hood, there's a 2.5-liter engine which Nissan expects the EPA to rate at 39mpg. That would be a 1mpg increase over the current-generation car.

Meanwhile there's plenty of new safety technology, including things like predictive forward collision warnings and emergency braking, intelligent cruise control, and rear cross traffic alerts.
