Grumpy Cat to star in her own comic book series

Ah, Grumpy Cat, the star of memes worldwide and the icon of an internet generation. If merchandise, books, and even a Lifetime Original movie weren't enough to prove that the feline's 15 minutes of fame are quickly expiring, then this news surely will. Grumpy Cat will starring in her own comic book series from publisher Dynamite Entertainment, titled The Misadventures of Grumpy Cat. Bet you can't wait to pick this up from your local comics outlet.

Grumpy won't have the pages all to herself though, as her brother Pokey will be joining the adventure too. You can see him on the first issue's cover, below.

Misadventures will start as a three-issue miniseries that will be released this fall, with the full run to be combined into a hardcover graphic novel for release sometime afterwards. Yes, Grumpy Cat warrants a hardcover release.

Dynamite says a few more pages will be revealed as the San Diego Comic Con approaches, and there will also be a daily webcomic that will run over the summer.

While the thought of a Grumpy Cat comic book series is more than enough to make most us roll our eyes, Dynamite's marketing manager Keith Davidsen says the cat can serve as a great way to draw new, younger audiences into the medium of comics. "Grumpy Cat is the perfect combination of unbearable cuteness, instant fan appeal, and established multimedia presence to make just such a thing happen."
