Google has thrown open the doors to App Inventor, its previously closed-beta Android software creation tool. Now, as long as you have a Google account, you can try the drag & drop app tool yourself; instead of requiring programming skills, you simply move around preset functionality blocks until the software does what you wanted it to.

Despite the simple premise, apps can still access the same sort of handset functionality that their “professional” counterparts can, including internet and camera access, GPS positioning and more. You can access App Inventor here.
