Well if they won and agreed to a settlement, then how much would the settlement be. Google lawyers are trying to prove they never had a mobile product in the first place to compete against, and thus no loss

Also the Judge would have just dismissed Google’s statement if he thought it was irrelevant.

Its like, your neighbor who gave you a fan that is not working for free, but because you can fix it – you made it work then 1 day he/she found out that its working, she/he will sue you and said its mine & pay me… THATS WHAT ORACLE DOING NOW…

Paul, I think I might not have been clear enough and I apologize if that’s the case. I meant for the case to be solved in favor of Google. I believe there’s no need to tax Google on their use of Java in whatever product they make, and no one as a matter of fact should be taxed in any way for using any dev language.

Oracle hasn’t done a damn thing worthwhile since it’s original relational database work in the late 70′s. This is just an attempt of a moribund company to cash in on something it had no hope of doing itself.

“resolved quickly in his favor” meaning what? A billion for Oracle because Google made Android work? I’ve used Java too, should I just send Ellison a blank check?

Remember SCO and how truly pathetic they were? Unable to innovate, they tried to take a pound of flesh from those who could. Is Oracle treading that same dead-end path?

I feel like it’s the battle of two evils, sadly, because these are both great innovators. Larry Page is the cleanest here and I hope this case gets resolved quickly in his favor. But it’s about time Google warms up to social properly, embed Facebook and Twitter in their products and work with them, don’t isolate. If you had a decent Twitter acct Larry, people (and mostly your supporters) would have been circulating this much better.

Article is a bit confusing. The verbiage is focused on a rather interesting, but potentially irrelevant aspect of Google’s claims. The slide shown, however, is very relevant to the court case, but isn’t discussed in the article.
