I don't think that's true. A larger tablet than this suffers from portability/functionality issues -- why not just have a netbook at this size?

Great observation. Ipad sized tablets are great for their screen size and content creation but their size makes them a bit cumbersome. A 7" OTOH slips into your bag/backpack and virtually disappears + when put in a cover it resembles a thin notebook (the paper kind) and weighs just about as much. It's a much more familiar form.

Google isn't fool enough to go up against the ipad, and so far the evidence suggests that they're correct. OTOH, the nook & fire have opened the consumer's eyes to the benefits of the 7", affordable tablet and and the desire for unfiltered Google services in the vein of the Nexus mobiles.

Havong both sizes, I was surprised to find I prefer the 7" tablets to their larger brethren. I would like to test a 7.7- or 8-inch device.

i was very skeptical of getting a 7 inch chinese tab or similar prized old tablet but always stoped because i thought 7 inch is too small.
than bought playbook sale for 200 and after few weeks im assuming anything bigger than 8 inch would be annoying to hold. like it so much that if 7.7 galaxy come with decent price will jump on it sure.

I wouldn't say that. Most android users I've met have either said they preferred smaller models ot already have 7" Galaxy Tabs. Even a few of my iPad owning mates have mentioned they'd move to a smaller model if Apple released one. In fact, if I got myself a tablet now it'd probably be a smaller one. I think it's got something to do with 7" form-factors being closer to books. Feels more natural to be held in one hand.

I personally would truthfully prefer something around the size of a Galaxy Note (around 5.5 - 6"). Something that could double as a phone and tablet, if you may. That way I don't have to carry 2 devices.

Just my 2 cents, though. I'm no market analyst and don't claim to be one, so don't take me too seriously.

Does it not make more sense to make a 10" tablet???
Personally, really would love a 10" nexus tablet
