I take issue with his writing not with the content – I am as excited about Google goggles as anyone but the author’s writing is barely coherent.

If you want a set of something like google goggles that actually work, and are actually available now, maybe look at getting the Recon Instruments MOD system that has been up and running for 2 years now. And if you want all the apps google is promising, if you’re nerdy enough, you can write them (and sell them).

It isn’t a stupid idea. It would make driving a lot safer when calling or sending texts. You would be able to keep looking forward to do these things instead of having to take your eyes off the road to use a cellphone. And that is just one of the many real world applications for them.

Now with that said, how is this a stupid idea?

I hope they’ll have a model which can connect to any device (iPhone, Mac and PC, included) via Wifi or WiDi and a special app or something and work as a display – I don’t want to wear a full smartphone with the processor and all on my head…

The concern I have now is the “lag” that we see with Android now. I hate that turn of phrase so much, but Apple–yes, Apple–has a much better handle on the smooth UI. Come to think of it, MS does too. I hope that the limited functionality that is to be expected at this early stage in the device development will allow better focus by Google on getting that smooth experience down. It is bad enough to have a choppy experience on a tablet, but shining it in my eye would be torturous.

Also, I for one am looking forward to the race to the consumer market that has now started. slashGear’s reminder of Nokia’s early musings in 2009 is a great reminder that we can expect something soon.

I love these great pushes toward competitive innovation, and I welcome each and every article with open arms! And eyes… oh the puns, the puns!!
