If this, like Siri, will provide data on demand as well as give you relevant information about things you are looking at (easily done if connected to a smartphone, although a feature that should be able to be turned off) this would become a gloriously handy tool. If one could watch a how-to video overlaid on the project then life is made better. If while looking at a painting information about it and the artist pops up then life is made better. If it is Google goggles crammed into a looxcie then it's a profound waste of time.

GPS is one, but I think I'll just read my emails, RSS feeds, have the tasks I need to do today in front of me, as well as having the instructions to say, setting up a router or something in front of me without having to look at my smartphone or browser tab then back a hundred times..

Put an Apple symbol on it and the reaction would be different and called revolutionary. I rather have my hands free and looking at where I am walking instead of holding something with one or two hands looking down walking. This would make driving easier especially with the GPS.

I differ from the point of view of the writer. This is NOT similar to Siri or Clippy. The device itself is just a Heads Up Display. So its up to the developers and the users to create and enable information that is displayed on it.

If you want to enable only calendar reminders and call reminders, you do. Disable obstructive (bigger, centered) notifications, you do. Its better and no different than taking out your phone and see the notifications on its screen which we do while walking, driving, etc...

What we shouldn't do is to read the entire message or take a video call while walking, driving..

It also applies to walking persons. Some people get distracted by their cell phone/pda/mp3 and walk into traffic. So, yes, it represents a potential danger.

Although changing a CD or radio station , or even checking your current speed can distract you for that fateful half a second when that car/truck/pedestrian came out of nowhere

It happened to me: a quick sneeze and reared the car in front of me which stopped dead on a highway. Minimal damage because I had (almost) the proper distance, but still a pain to go through insurance and repairs.

Can't wait to have a 4G antenna attached to my head all day long. I really can't wait to see the data overage bill when I used up ten gigs transmitting video chats to my GF instead of calling her on the phone. I really just can't wait for the inevitable getting ripped off for a first gen product and doing all of that beta testing for google at top dollar.

How is this any more of an overlay than a heads up display of the same kind that is already used on airplanes and some cars? Do keep in mind that this is not some screen completely covering your field of vision either. it is set as a reference point slightly above one of your eyes - again, like a heads up display information unit.

Oh this is perfect!! I'll be able to leave the house again! I can't possibly live day-to-day life, with all its various outside errands and activities, without a computer and internet access. Just don't mind me when I just dead stop in front of you while we're walking through a store or down the street, I'm just checking directions so I don't have to suffer human interaction to ask where the music department or the hip little coffee truck is. Likewise, ignore me if I stop mid sentence to you to start speaking to my glasses; I'm not trying to be rude, but the all important technology on my face is letting me know I have a message. It will be so lovely to get outside and enjoy the world with minimal interaction with it.

Right, having an overlay blocking a portion of your view and interrupting you is a great idea for tourists and truckers and drivers.

Go ahead and try that, say a trial run for the next month... oh me? Yeah, I'll be in a cabin in the woods for the next month. Just a coincidence though, I'm sure all the distracted inattentive truckers and drivers will be doing awesome and not crashing into things right and left. And all the lost tourists blindly following instructions for a map that is 3 years old won't end up causing any problems.

Any other good ideas? Maybe we can have pilots wear eyepatches, but on both eyes. I mean a pirate eyepatch is cool, but a double eyepatch is even more awesome, right?

Why not wait until a product exists before slamming or loving it? Haven't these 'tech' sites learned how stupid they look making predictions about the next model of iWhatever? Here they are speculating way beyond whether or not their beloved, disposable, over-priced revenue stream will get an upgraded camera...here you are very clearly talking about something that you know nothing about.
(Warning, sarcasm follows) Siri? Yeah, Siri is awfully useful...that is why you see so many people using it. All of the time. Everywhere. I cannot go anywhere without tripping over a few people who are yelling at their iPhones. Definitely not a worthless feature like Clippy.
