Google now lets you store 50,000 tracks in Play music

If you uploaded music to Play Music, but ran through the 20,000 song limit pretty quickly, we've got great news. Today, Google has upped the ante on Play Music's song upload limit. Now, you can upload up to 50,000 tracks to Play Music, so music buffs (and former iTunes users) can now upload a much larger library. Best of all, this storage option costs you nothing — it's 100% free, and doesn't count against Drive or other Google-y cloud storage, like Gmail.

Perhaps even more interesting is that Google isn't even making you sign up for Play Music All Access to take advantage, here. The 50,000 track uptick is for all users, whether or not they're subscribing to All Access. Once you upload your tracks, you can stream them from your cloud library to any and all devices you have.

For $9.99/month, Play Music is pretty great. Alongside a 50,000 track library of music you already own, it's that much better. The upgraded storage makes Play Music an even more attractive offer when compared to services like Spotify or Rdio.

We do wonder if the cloud storage uptick is preemptive, though. It's widely believed Apple is about to come over the top of all streaming providers with an iTunes streaming service. If the current rumors regarding the service are true, Apple would almost immediately take control of the streaming market share, so Google might just be playing grab-a-customer while they can. Smart move, too.
