i got the new update, and it started crashing; it never used to, now it does at least 5 times a day.
anyone else have this problem?

I updated accidentally – did not realize I would have almost a different phone with this configuration, which I totally hate. If I could go back to the original settings, I’d leave it there. Totally agree with JB that this is not the best bet. I am loathing it totally. JMHO

Just got my update and getting used to it. The phone interface is worse, smaller buttons for mute, keypad and speaker make it more difficult to press the correct button. The main screen used to have one swipe to mute the ringer. This adds a swipe to go directly to the camera, which is good, but loses the swipe to mute the ringer, not so good. The blue letters are more intense than the white ones and I’m not sure changing the color is configurable. The keyboard seems to recognize letters a tiny bit better than before. Overall, I would prefer to go back to the previous version.

I got it but had to do it this way… Go to your settings menu go to application, manage apps then click all. Go down to google framework click on it, then click clear data…. Then go back to about phone and check for system update, it should work and if not do the checkin first *#*#checkin#*#* then go back to about phone and system update.

I’ve gotten this update on my Sprint NS4G. Adding Facebook Account still doesn’t work, and they have removed, as far as I can tell, the icon showing cell phone signal strength.

Everything else is pretty cool. OH, the Google Search thing which is on EVERY home screen can not be removed with out some heaving code tweaking. This really sucks. I’m using the GO Launcher EX so I don’t have to deal with that thing.

iOS does have to get carrier approval. Apple just doesnt release the newest version at all untill they have complete approval from all carriers. (which they can afford to do since theres only one phone running iOS)

I’m a Nexus S 3G owner… I am one of the unfortunates that lost a smart phone and gained a very expensive paperweight when updating to ICS. With my new Nexus S 3G, having purchased it to replace that paperweight, I have been avoiding the periodic nuisance reminders to update. However, over the past week or so, I have been receiving these reminders about every 10 minutes, literally. It appears as though I may have accidentally downloaded it and now it appears as though I am one small mistake away from installing it…?

My question is this… Does anyone know how I can kill/block the ICS notifications and stop it from ever installing?

I really am curious about something, how come Android updates always require carrier approval but Apple can somehow issue updates without it? That really puzzles me. I think Android would have much more timely updates without carrier approval.

Has anyone actually had this hit their phone yet? I have not seen one report of a Nexus S 4G owner on Sprint actually having this hit their phone. Everyone is indicating that the System Update dialogue just says you are up to date.

Because Google and the Android Open Source Project write the code and let people get Android, but the phone manufacturers and carriers decide when their devices will get the updates and can refuse to push out updates at all if they don’t like something.
