I don't think MOST people are on unlimited data. At least not in the US- The overwhelming number of folks who are on contract plans with ATT and Verizon don't have unlimited (unless they were grandfathered in). Tmobile throttles. Only Sprint has unlimited data these days...And the prepaid carriers have lower quality data speeds and networks from what I can tell from users who post comments.

Most people are on unlimited data plans anyway. But Google is using extremely compressed streaming algorithms in route over the internet plus intelligent caching on the devices themselves. Consequently you use less data than streaming from Pandora or other web based music streaming services.

So you could theoretically stream playlists almost continuously, when add in the fact that the system works to prioritize streaming over Wifi from Google's Cloud whenever available! .....and yes Apple charges for that and restricts where you can stream it to. Like they do Movies. If you rent or buy a movie on Google's service you can stream it from your phone to your HDTV and Apple doesn't allow that. Even though most of the time you are going to be downloading or streaming them while connected to Wifi. Not 3G or even 4G. Which only Android has that luxury!!!

I hope someone does an article comparing this to Apple...As someone who has been using a Mac for since summer, but also has an Android on a prepaid and is new to all this, I am beyond confused. So if you can upload your entire music library for free (doesnt Apple charge for that?), then that saves a lot of memory on an sd card...but to play that music will probably use up a lot of your data plan, wouldn't it?

I'm a bonafide Google / Android "hater." But I have to say the iPhone "web app" accessible via the Safari browser effing rocks! And it has a really neat ICS look to it. They did a great job with this IMO. Can't believe I'm saying this but good going Google.
