Google Glass version 2.0 hardware shown off

We've all received a good look at Google Glass at this point, but the version known today won't be what arrives in the average consumer's hands when the device is officially launched. This we knew, as well as having an idea about what to expect from later versions, but now we have a first visual of what the next version will look like thanks to a post on Google Glass's Google+ account.

The post was rather simple, offering up the two images you can see above, as well as a simple status: "Wow, lots of questions! We'd rather "show" than "tell" so here you go: the mono earbud, and the Glass that Explorers will be getting when they swap later this year." Google has made it known that it is setting up to release Glass to a wider range of individuals, and that it will come with some new hardware.

The changes are made, in part at least, via feedback that has been received by those in the Explorer program. Those with prescription glasses will be able to use the Google device alongside their own lenses, though how that is accomplished isn't exactly clear at this point. Glass may be positioned over the prescription frames, or will perhaps be integrated into the existing frames. The entire device appears larger, as well, which may not be a welcomed change for some.

The earbud piece falls into a lot of feedback that has been seen from current users, and will help in terms of both privacy and listening quality — some reported that the bone conducting quality of the original version wasn't clear enough for proper usage. Overall, the changes are welcomed, in that the product has been refined and improved upon, but it'll take some time to see how version 2.0 is received by the public.
