i really love google desktop. I heavily rely on google products for productivity purpose. Searching for the replacement is gonna be hard. I also an android geek. Hopefully someday I can get a notepad that can instantly sync between my android notepad and my desktop notepad. I know the possibility is high with Google Desktop scratch pad. Now i don't think so anymore.

I do not see why Google Desktop has to end. Major facepalm. If Google thought Desktop was under-used, then think about this... it's for your desktop. You're not going to know what people are doing with it all the time. In fact, Desktop was contending with Apple's Finder, allowing Windows users to find indexed files fast and easy. And I don't mean to sound like an advertiser, Desktop was really awesome. I simply do not see the point of a billion-dollar business giant needing to end products they've made that were actually useful. Maybe with other applications that had better alternatives, that are actually better, but not so with Desktop and the nearly-forgotten SearchWiki and Starred Results features.

Yeah, surprised about Desktop. I like the layout and use the notepad as an informal calendar even if Microsoft went on to bake the instant search into their later products. As long as it keeps working, I guess.
