My problem with the doodle is that it depicts her as a beaker-and-flask chemist. She was not even a chemist. She and her husband Pierre were physicists. She did win a Nobel prize in chmistry, but she won one first in physics.

Just to let you know how a physicist would react to this: While I was Steve Chu's teaching assistant at Stanford in his early post-Bell Lab years (Steve Chu is the current Secretary of Energy, and a Nobel laureate a few years later), he related a story of his conversation with Art Schawlow (Nobel prize in physics 1981 - for his pioneering work on lasers) about the overhead problem at Stanford. The president of the university was overheard to comment "how dare a mere associate professor question me about overhead" (the associate professor in question was Steve Chu - who was actually a full professor already at that time). Steve had overheard this and was saying to Art Schawlow that he was sure glad he had tenure. Art Schawlow's comment to this was (referring to the university president): "Never liked the man; he introduced me as having won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry".

By the way: the Stanford overhead issue blew up to a major scandal at about 1990, and the president in question had to resign in disgrace.
