Google+ custom vanity URLs available for all this week

If you're an avid user of the Google social network called Google+ you will be excited to hear that starting this week everyone will have access to customized vanity URLs. The idea is that by signing up for your own custom URL you could make your Google+ page a sort of destination website for people wanting to know more about you or your business.

The custom URLs that users can sign up for make for short and easy to remember web addresses linking directly to the Google+ profile or page. The URL linking to a profile page will look something like "google.com/+OtavioSilva" while a custom URL linking to a business page would be along the lines of "google.com/+Toyota."

To qualify for the custom URL, a person's profile page has to meet certain criteria. The criteria includes that the profile has to have photograph, at least 10 followers, and the account has to be at least 30 days old. Google will allow any brand or business that has a linked website or is a verified local business to claim a custom URL well.

Users that meet the eligibility rules need to visit their own profile or page to begin claiming their vanity URL. Google notes that some people may not yet see the option to claim a custom URL. The feature is expanding availability throughout the week and Google says users who to apply will see an in-product notice as soon as the custom URL is ready.
