So forcing useres to upgrade their device to get the new functioning OS doesn’t hurt them??? I’m using a 4th gen iPod touch to write this…it’s 2 years old and running iOS 6.0.1. How many users of Android upgrades their device just to get a new version of an OS?? How many iPhone 4 users are running iOS 6 with no trouble?

If you answered any number to the first and answered “none” or “zero” for the second…you see the flaw in his logic.

Check out open source software like Ubuntu, LibreOffice, and Firefox. In fact, Android is free and open source.

Tell that to the BSD kernel that is going nowhere while the Linux kernel is skyrocketing. Both companies use open source ideas at their core, but google feeds much more resources back into the Linux kernel (although they didn’t used to).

Actually, Apple doe NOT steal content, their business model is to sell you a product and get paid for it , either something they made themselves, or through their store as a reseller taking a percentage.
Google is in the business of selling Ads so they need your eyeballs and personal data to sell to the advertisers. They seemingly give stuff away so they an keep your attention to show you ads. Sometimes this involves using other companies and other peoples creations or copyrighted material as the bait..
