“Google bombs” are collective efforts to link to a site by a key phrase
and artificially elevate a Web site in the Google search results for
that search phrase.

There is no word for it. It’s just the way Google’s search ranking algorithm works. If a lot of people on the Internet are linking to it then the content must be relevant to people on the Internet. It just so happens that this content is material about a presidential candidate.

This isn’t a “google bomb”, even if Fox News thinks it is. That’s when you get a site to rank for a term that they didn’t plan for, like Bush’s White House page ranking first for “miserable failure” back in the day.
Not sure what the word is for this, though, other than “funny”. :)
