May I point out two very important Caveats:
1) As usual, Physics has discovered the WHAT but yet again fails to explain the HOW. The Higgs may be the particle to gives matter mass, but HOW it does it is still just as illusive as HOW gravity works.
2) If the Higgs Boson is so fleeting in exisistance, then HOW does it continue to embue particles with mass when it has decayed into other particles in less than a trillion, trillion, trillionth of a second?

If this particle is what gives other particles their mass then that means that mass isn’t a fixed value and that maybe we can use the higgs field to change the mass of objects. (Ala Mass Effect)
can anyone say Higgs FTL drive core?

“god particle” name is not a name coined by
physicists, it was a name coined by a publisher when changed the name of a book about the Higgs boson from “The goddam particle”(because it wasn’t still discovered) to “The God particle”

If I can be picky here… it’s mass really should be “125GeV/c2″ rather than “125GeV”.
