HTC has begun updating two of its more recent Android handsets to 2.3 Gingerbread, confirming that the OTA update for the HTC Desire HD and the HTC Incredible S is now live. Confirmed on HTC's support page, Mobile Bulgaria spotted, the update will be flagged up by the two smartphones in the Android notification bar, and then delivered via WiFi or 3G.
HTC advises backing up your Incredible S or Desire HD before you proceed with the upgrade, though it's unclear at this stage whether updating to Android 2.3 Gingerbread will indeed wipe your phone in the process. We've just powered up a Desire HD now, however, and were told that there was no newer software available after a manual check for updates.
Still, we're guessing that will change as the day goes on. If you find a new Android build flagged up on your Desire HD or Incredible S, let us know how the process goes in the comments!
