But my Nexus is not scanning it. It is scanning a neighbours secure network but does not detect mine. Is this a specific to my handset issue or is it a generic problem/bug with Nexus S?

Verizon is terrible about locking down phones and features. When I got my Razor on T-mobile and officemate got his on Verizon, I could make my own ring tones and had a lot of addition features that, in every single case, he had to pay extra for or didn’t have at all.

Now he was the original Droid and I’ve got my N1. I’ve gotten updates quicker, can wifi tether and have great download speeds without ever encountering a limit. I have been a happy T-Mobile customer for years and after seeing friends with Verizon, I would never switch.
