For the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters, the film will return to “more than 700 movie theaters” on August 29th. This release of the movie will include special events across the United States as well as one massive box set for both the first and the second film.
This box set will include a new edition of the first film on Blu-ray and – for the first time – a standard Blu-ray edition of Ghostbusters II. A Ghostbusters II 25th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray will also be available on its own on September 16th.
This release will be accompanied by “new” conversations with Dan Aykroyd and director Ivan Reitman. The Collectable Limited Edition Gift Set will include a Digibook with both films, a Slimer Figurine, and officially licensed “Mastered in 4K” certification.
For those of you wondering – there’s no new confirmation that Slimer is the ghost of John Belushi. It also does not appear that Eddie Murphy or the the ghosts of John Belushi or John Candy will be joining in on the commentary. Paul Reubens was not likely called to join in on the fun for this edition either.
