Ghostbusters board game unveiled ahead of new movie

Ahead of the new movie that'll be coming out, Cryptozoic Entertainment has introduced a new Ghostbusters board game (fret not you purists, it's based on the original movie). The game is for up to four players who are tasked with both vanquishing ghosts and sealing off the gates through which they enter our world. The board game is a bit fluid, in that it features "levels" with different rates of difficulty, as well as individual board tiles that are double-sided.

There are a total of ten double-sided board tiles, four Ghostbusters based on the original cast, 3 bosses (including the big Stay Puff Marshmallow Man), 20 'Galloping Ghouls', 12 'Gruesome Twosomes', 8 'Boogaloo Manifestations', slime tokens, gate tokens, an ecto-1 token, stream tokens, a PKE meter, and dice. Players also each get a Ghostbuster card, and there are half a dozen ghost cards.

As far as gameplay goes, there are a total of three campaigns, and each of them feature 4 episodes, with each episode taking about half an hour to play. All the artwork is based on the original movie, and includes designs from IDW's Ghostbusters comic series artist Dan Schoening.

Cryptozoic Entertainment is looking to fund the new board game on Kickstarter, where they want to raise $250,000 USD and have so far raised a little over $176,000 USD. There are 29 days left in the campaign, so if you're interested in getting a unit, you'll need to pledge $80 USD for the base game or $125 USD for the "Mass Hysteria" deluxe game with Kickstarter perks.
