George Lucas "constantly talking" to JJ Abrams about Star Wars sequels

Most Star Wars fans will admit the George Lucas hasn't always made the best decisions for the franchise. The original trilogy were some the most popular science fiction films ever made but the later three films in the franchise left a lot of fans angry. When George Lucas made the decision to step away from Star Wars and sold the franchise to Disney, some feared bad things were in store for the franchise.

Disney's announcements that it would be bringing out several new films including some films based specifically around individual characters was met with a mixture of fear and excitement by many fans of the franchise. George Lucas handpicked director JJ Abrams for the new film trilogy. According to George Lucas' son, Jett Lucas, George has been "constantly talking" to JJ Abrams about the new films.

George Lucas has remained a creative consultant with Disney despite having sold to Disney for over $4 billion. Jett also noted that his father was "very torn" about giving up control over the franchise he built. Jett also says that his father had written outlines for future films.

Jett said:

He's constantly talking to JJ. Obviously JJ was handpicked. He is there to guide, whenever, he'll help where he can. At the same time, he wants to let it go and become its new generation.

Star Wars Episode VII is set to begin filming in London early next year. Disney's current plans include a new film trilogy and standalone films expected to be based around Han Solo, Yoda, and Boba Fett. Actors from the original trilogy have also been rumored to return including Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford
