Really goofy. Dogs are evident in partnership with humans well before the first human experiments with agriculture. Only the advent of agriculture provided the high levels of carbs that would provide an advantage to this specific mutation. Even today certain aboriginal peoples do not engage in sedentary agriculture but without exception they have dogs and rely on them much more than a farmer would. Cats are the animals that evolved in symbiosis with agriculture. Dogs evolved while we were still hunter/gatherers. This is not to say they haven’t mutated to exploit our recent development of agriculture. But they were already dogs. Check out the pariah dogs such as basenji and dingoes. The dingoes arrived in Australia with Dravidian boat people well before agriculture developed anywhere.

Title and article use faulty post-hoc reasoning. The reason that dogs are not wolves is simple– humans have bred wild dogs and/or wolves not to behave like wolves for many centuries. People fall into large sub-populations with distinct phenotypes and behavioral characteristics for the same reason; that is why culture and civilization do matter. We should be studying our own species and stop wasting funding on why dogs are not wolves. Of course, thanks to the horrible crimes of Mr. Hitler, we stopped rigorously studying our own breeds in the 1950s. Studying the genetic differences at any point in the process shows one pathway to achieve a dog (or human) but is shows neither the only pathway nor the cause of why a dog is not a wolf.

You have not described a mutation. What ignoramus explained the theory of change or mutation to you? The gene LCT does not mutate nor does the other genes within the human body. However, the existence of certain genes cause different reactions to things like lactose. Simply stated… Some people have different genes and it causes them to react differently to all types of organisms, bacteria, etc.

Don’t try to be a smart a$$ anymore! You only gave justice to the point you were arguing against.

I have a Ph.D. in genetics… do you even know what a carbon structure looks like?

If genes were not “created” through mutation, then what created the genes in the first place? What you state doesn’t make sense from an analytical perspective.

And all it took was 2 minutes of searching on the net to come up with this…

Normally I wouldn’t respond to this but, wow, you have no business speaking in an authoritative way about this topic (based on confusion you have between your opinion and what has been theoretically proven or with a BA in biology). Your logic is faulty and unsupported = NOT science. There are several statements you made which are untrue yet spoken of like fact. Have you ever heard of epigenetics? Go get accepted to a higher degree program (if you learned half of what you were supposed to and the grades were good enough) because you’re not fit to teach high school science. Otherwise, stick to theology where everyone has a voice no matter which side of their ass they’re talking out of… Get off your WalMart brand soapbox!

You should readh “The the dog became the dog”. Dogs weren’t domesticated by hanging around human dumps. Dogs and humans co-evolved after the last ice age and hunted together. It was mutually beneficial.
