Here’s a creepy one.  You invite the Geek Squad into your home to fix your PC, but they’re far too busy trying to film you in a state of soapy undress.  Now I’ve never particularly minded flaunting myself to geeks, but Sarah Vasquez obviously felt very differently when she realised that Best Buy employee Hao Kuo Chi had discretely set up his cellphone to record her getting in and out of the shower.

Hao Kuo ChiNow Vasquez is suing Best Buy and Geek Squad, outraged that Chi attempted to smooth things over when discovered by offering them discounted repairs.

Moral of the story?  Be damned careful who you let into your house and don’t leave them unattended.

This is so creepy, not to mention giving all guys a bad rep. Wait, what the heck is she doing taking a bath when this guy is in her house repairing her PC? Sounds odd to me.

An actual consideration of the story rather than knee-jerk outrage would reveal a strong possibility that this techie is the victim of fraud.

Who showers while there’s a stranger in the house? There’s no indication that she was showering at that time for a particular reason, such as an appointment.

Why would the techie set his camera up in the bathroom to record on the off-chance that one of the young ladies would have a shower while he was there and fixing the computer? The camera was allegedly pointed at the shower, not the toilet. He didn’t leave it behind to pick up later; he allegedly left it recording, and a cameraphone can only hold so much video.

Why would the little sister, apparently so tech-savvy, have to take the camera to Verizon to find out what was on it? A camera left in the state of recording would not be locked, and it would be a simple matter of navigating to the media folder to replay it. Unless they took it to the Verizon store to have a non-related “witness” to the video being on the camera. Of course, the guy at the store apparently didn’t see the video itself.

The “victim” claims to have seen a red flashing light that indicated the camera was in a state of recording. That model doesn’t have such a light.

What normal people react to the discovery of a hidden camera by taking it to Verizon to verify it, without even asking the techie, who was still IN THE HOSUE, what the hell his problem is? They waited to get to Verizon before calling the cops. Where’s the sense in that?

This is more subjective, but neither of those young women in the video seem particularly traumatized. They honestly sound more excited than anything.

Why are they suing Best Buy? They’re not Geek Squad… but they DO have more money.

All in all, there is NO aspect to this story that doesn’t seem engineered for the sole purpose of framing that techie. That is frankly infuriating an cheapens the suffering of real victims who, as a result of fraudulent claims like this, end up being viewed as potential frauds as well, not to mention the damage this is doing to the young man’s reputation. The news of an accusation spreads like wildfire; the news of exoneration crawls at a snail’s pace.

I think Best Buy will have to “rethink” this Geek Squad business moving forward in order to protect the safety of their staff as well as the customers.

Ok I’m a 26 year old woman who rents an apartment. If you’ve ever rented an apartment or home you know that the owner of the property or someone they hire for repairs can come into your home as long as they make you aware. Now I’ve never taken a shower or even used the bathroom when this was going on. I figured I could do that after they left. It never mattered to me if my husband was home or not. It’s just something you don’t do. I’m a little confused as to why this female would take a shower while he was there in the house regardless if there was other people in the home. I don’t agree with what he did at all. If it is proven that it was something he planned and set up alone then he should be held responsible for doing this. I watched the above video and according to the younger sister she removed the memory card because she didn’t want her sister to be plastered all over the internet. Um excuse me but what do you think this is?

I agree that this smacks of fraud. They are trying to pull one over on the hapless geek squad guy. These two bimbos are not at all believable.

From what I read, his camera supposedly have video of the victim getting out of the shower. Has anyone seen an official statement from Best Buy on this matter?

I also think these girls are up the same thing EVERYONE IN AMERICA is trying to do, get rich quick on somebody else’s dime. Like that woman that said she found a finger in her chili at a Wendy’s fast food joint? In her case they found that she has had many previous law suits against other companies all to get some money out of it. But they found that the she had planted the finger tip in her food, and I think she’s doing time now. Seems that these two covered their ground pretty well, they got the Verizon store as a witness, they got some memory card with the video as evidence, and a stupid looking geek as the culprit.

SO… Like, if the geek did it, then Like, I think this guy needs to be Like, punished. But if he’s being framed, then Like, get them some English speaking lessons so they won’t repeat the word Like twice in one sentence.

And if he really did it, than hey, it’s the price you pay for being STUPID. The coffee was too hot, it didn’t say “Don’t Swallow” on the bucket of chemical, I didn’t know not to take a shower with a stranger in my home. Dumb Ass.

Yeah, the thing makes it fishy is that they are suing best buy, not taking the guy to trial

This sounds like fraud to me. I find it hard to believe that somebody would allow a strange guy into her home, then take a shower while he was still there working on her computer. She couldn’t wait until he was done? And how did he know where to set up the phone? Did she make it a point to tell him ahead of time that she was planning to take a shower, then give him ample time to set up the phone? I just don’t believe it. How can anyone be that stupid?
