I have a dog, and sometimes he likes to wander off. I don’t really blame him, it’s a big world out there, and there are lots of trees to pee on. There have been two occasions that he has slipped away where I have gotten quite worried about him, perhaps if he had a GPS system, there wouldn’t be any need to fret.
Garmin is now selling their Astro GPS Dog Tracker (surely they were thinking of the Jetsons here) which will do exactly what you think it does. In addition to keeping track of your pooch, it’ll make him look really weird with the big harness and an antenna sticking up.
I don’t think you’ll be slapping this on your dog for everyday use. It’s big, bulky and expensive. However, they are aiming this at hunters, who can easily lose track of their hound while their tracking animals. This will set you back $499.Garmin Astro GPS Dog Tracker – keep tabs on the pooch in long grass [via redferret]

Why not just stick a wad of cash to your dog instead? Atleast they’ll just take the cash and leave your dog.
