GammaTech Durabook R11 tablet PC is military rugged

GammaTech has unveiled its latest ruggedized tablet computer that is aimed at workers in harsh environments. We all know that the typical notebook can't survive use in harsh environments for very long. The Durabook R11 on the other hand meets multiple military standards for ruggedness including MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD- 461F, and IP65. The maker says that meeting the military standards makes this the ideal tablet PCs for utility workers who are in the harshest environments.

The Durabook R11 is offered in four configurations that bundle in features that workers need for different tasks. All of the machines have the same basic hardware with Intel Haswell Core i5 processors and 4GB of RAM. Storage is to a 128GB SSD and the capacitive multi touch screen is sunlight readable and usable with gloves on.

Integrated WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 keep you connected to wireless networks and accessories. The tablet also has a HD webcam on front and a 5MP rear webcam. The OS is Windows 7 Pro 32 or 64 bit and Windows 8.

The standard configuration is the ER11H0-52BM408J3 and it sells for $2199. The ER11H0-52BM4S8J3 version adds in a smart card reader and sells for $2398. The ER11H2-52BM408J3 version gets RF pass-through WWAN/GPS and 4G LTE with GPS for $2699. A version with the same gear as the previous version adds in a Haswell Core i7 processor, RF pass-through, and 4G LTE with GPS for $2999.
