Gamdias EROS V2 gaming headset Review

High quality headsets aren't often cheap – the folks at Gamdias are hoping to change that. Releasing the Gamdias EROS V2 earlier this year, the team behind the gaming company made an awesome combination: a surprisingly pleasant gaming headset experience with a price that won't eviscerate your wallet.

Behold a headset that looks like it's been pulled from the head of a black metal wizard. But the sound isn't metal, nor is it brutal. It's good. It's fairly balanced.

The hardware comes with a connection to software available from Gamdias that allows you to tweak and fix the sound you'll want for any desktop or laptop situation you're in. The only strange bit is the fact that you've got to sort of match up what you're doing on the software with the audio settings in the game you're playing – once you do that, you're golden.

You can plug the headset in to this unit's included USB-connected controller which allows you to control your sound. Muting your sound or your mic with a tap is extremely useful, and having hardware buttons instead of software means you can rely on the whole mix.

The microphone on this headset isn't perfect. It's not made for speaking to your top client on a live podcast for millions of listeners, but it's perfectly legit for games. Speaking to your team on an outing with headshots galore – for that, this mic is totally fine.

Also the mic is on a coil that's able to move and rest anywhere in 3D space. Even the highest-quality headsets we've seen over the past several years have all had hard-molded units – this is a near differentiator.

This headset works with some excellent virtual surround sound – just so long as you download and load the correct drivers before you listen. Performance is decent all-around, especially for the cash, and these headphones are amongst the most comfortable we've ever worn – especially in the gaming-oriented space.

You can pick the EROS V2 up for a cool $45 USD if you seek the highest quality of shops online – or at some brick and mortar retailers. They're worth that cash all day long.
