Galaxy Tab 8.9/10.1 Euro launch now August after Honeycomb hiccups

Yesterday I mentioned that the launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was set for June 16 in the US. Pre-orders for that tablet will start on June 8. Europeans that were hoping their launch and pre-order dates would be around those US dates will not like this latest rumor. Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 8.9 will not hit Europe until August. This isn't a delay since Samsung has not promised a launch day for Europe yet.

The tip comes by way of a Tweet from Eldar Murtazin. Murtazin has a decent track record with tips of this sort, so this is likely to be accurate. The reason for the August ship time frame is said to be thanks to Android 3.1 "issues" with the tablets. What these issues may be is unknown. The thing that I wonder about is why Samsung would launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the US if Android 3.1 has issues on the tablet.

Until Samsung offers an official launch date for the tablets in Europe, we will take the tip with a grain of salt and lean towards it being accurate. We only have a week or so before we will learn if Android 3.1 on the tablet does in fact have issues. For the sake of our tablet sanity, I hope there are no issues.
