Galaxy S4 Active water damage replacement unit confirmed by Samsung

Earlier today it was tipped by several sources (and confirmed this afternoon by Samsung) that the Galaxy S4 Active was being prepared for a one-time exchange deal for anyone who had suffered water damage to their unit. While it's true that the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active is water resistant, there have been a number of users who have complained about having damage from water – and one notable review which suggested the device wasn't waterproof at all.

SlashGear did some real dunks in a pool with this device for our original full review of the device and found it to be just as waterproof as the company claims. While there's always a possibility that one or more of the covers for the various ports on this device might not be clicked in tight enough for waterproof sealing, it ends up being much more likely that an accidental dunk with your headphones plugged in would do damage than a fully plugged-up douse.

What you're seeing here is Samsung's official statement on the matter as sent out this afternoon:

"Samsung designed and tested the Galaxy S 4 Active to adhere to IP67 standards for water resistance (1 meter for 30 minutes). If your Galaxy S 4 Active has been damaged due to water exposure, bring it back to an AT&T retail store as soon as possible for a one-time exchange for another Galaxy S 4 Active." – Samsung Representative

This device works with the same processor, display, and essentially everything in-between as the original Samsung Galaxy S 4 save its physical keys and water resistance casings. This device has been tapped as a "worthy spin-off" of the Galaxy S 4, a rarity in today's modern mobile universe of hero phones and their lesser cousins.

Does this one-time exchange seem fair to you? Is this something Samsung and AT&T should be doing, or is it unnecessarily kind of them to allow for one mess-up in the drink? Or is i just right considering everyone has a mistaken drop from time to time?
